It's beginning to smell a lot like..

Bourbon! As we sit listening to the crash-boom of this evenings thunderstorm from the safety of our motel room we are perusing the fliers for Jim Beam, Makers Mark and other fine distillers of Bourbon, as we are now in Kentucky! Beautiful ride leaving early this morning (to beat the aforementioned thunderstorm) across southern Missouri, a short jaunt through the tip of Illinois (and I mean short, cross the Mississippi River on one bridge into Illinois, go 1/2 a mile turn right and cross the Ohio River on another bridge into Kentucky). The mornings rolling hills and gentle curves through the mixed coniferous and deciduous forests and farmland, with a light breeze blowing the scents of the trees and fields our way was just about the best of the trip, simply divine. The early afternoon was more of the same, except hot, and humid, so not quite divine. No actual bourbon today (think tomorrow), no beer either, just an excellent as usual IHOP brinner, before the rains came, timing is everything.
