Westward Ho! Left the land of Lincoln behind and followed the sun... into Iowa. Great day, managed to skirt all the thunderstorms, visited an awesome world famous landmark, and most awesome-er-est of all we rode through the home town of one Radar O'Reilly! Yes, we journeyed through Ottumwa Iowa. Any younger folk might not understand who/what that is, but ya'll can google it.
So the world famous landmark? The house in the famous painting American Gothic is located in Eldon Iowa. They have a pretty neat visitor center, complete with old guy telling stories, who will also take your picture, they even have costumes you can dress up in, but we brought our own. Pics below.

| Picture of a copy of the original painting. |
| The two people used as models for the painting; the artists sister, and his local doctor. |
| The house itself, actually is a private residence owned by the state of Iowa and rented out to a lady who makes pies and shares Dan's last name. |
| Our first version of the famous pose that never was a pose as the artist added the people much later after just sketching the house. |
| Our second rendition. |
I'm partial to the first rendition; however, the helmets in your second attempt do bring a contemporary feel to the photo.
